It is not just a diet. The Zone Diet developed by Barry Sears in the U.S. – biochemist, endocrinologist and oncologist – is more a food strategy. “I am convinced that high-carbohydrate diets are dangerous and even encourage an outbreak of disease that would occur,” said Sears, regarded as the inventor of the U.S. response to the Mediterranean diet.

The secret is to get constant blood sugar levels by an intelligent system and everything humiliating. The Zone Diet, in fact, learned food not choose to think in calories, but hormonal, as the assimilation of food just by regulatory hormones (insulin, glucagon and eicosanoids), one for each of the three macronutrients: carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
